January 14th, 2010 by admin
Known for its spectacular ocean vistas and scenic hiking opportunities, Quoddy Head State Park is a also a great destination to do some whale watching on Maine’s “Bold Coast”. Just four miles off Route 189 in Lubec, Maine, Quoddy Head State Park is located on the easternmost point of land in the United States. One of more than 30 Maine State Parks, the site was purchased by the state in 1962. Today, the 532-acre state park offers four and a half miles of scenic hiking trails, extensive forests, two bogs, diverse habitat for many rare plants, scenic picnic sites and the picturesque, red-and-white striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost lighthouse in the United States.
