No where in the US do they celebrate Mardi Gras like they do in New Orleans, and its known as the greatest free show on earth. For the 10 days leading up to Fat Tuesday there is a constant feel of carnival. Bourbon Street and the French Quarter are the center of all of the activity. This is one of the North American holidays that everyone from around the world should experience, but you have to book well in advance since the city is flooded with tourists for the entire time and it can be extremely difficult to find accommodations within a month of the festivities.
