How To Resolve Winlogon exe Application Error ?

January 15th, 2010 by admin

Let’s see how to resolve the winlogon exe application error… When you boot up XP system, immediately a popup appears that says:

WINLOGON.EXE APPLICATION ERROR0×77d46303 referenced memory at 0×00000008 the memory could not be “read”.

Delete or Cancel buttons simply reboot the system and the whole thing starts again. The same error pops up in safe mode.

To fix the issue try these steps:

Boot with WinXP cd
Log into recovery console
Run CHKDSK /r

After getting access is denied while trying to re-install sp2, I went on to Microsoft’s website and it told me it was to do with registry permissions and I needed to edit the reg keys etc.

If you can boot into safe mode then you’re definitely a recoverable scenario. I highly recommend a little program called Hijack this v1.9
