Consumer Report: Induction Cooktop
March 10th, 2010 by admin
This cooktop was so close to being almost totally perfect, but I do have some reservations about it. All-Clad pans don’t work as well as I’d like, for example. I’m hardly going to replace them, so I’m disappointed. Yes, a magnet sticks to them, but that’s only the outer layer and the middle and inner layers apparently aren’t good conductors of the magnetically generated heat. The cookware can be used and works fine if you’re not in a hurry, but it doesn’t heat up as fast as it does on a normal range. Originally, I was eager to try the induction technology because it was supposed to be fast, e.g. boil water in 90 seconds. Well, it doesn’t with All-Clad stainless steel cookware. I actually did timed tests with one cup of water in identical pans and it boiled twice as fast on a standard electric stove. Learn more about this consumer report.
