    Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction

    The tibialis posterior muscle and tendon complex is an extremely important muscle within the back of the leg. The tendon of this muscle passes down the medial side of the rearfoot joint and has the job of supporting upward the arch of the foot. If the tibialis posterior muscle is weak or does not work appropriately, then the arch of the foot will probably fall. An ailment generally known as posterior tibial tendon dysfunction can derive from the muscle tendon complex not being able to do its work properly. The end result is usually intensifying pain along with deformity at the rearfoot and also the arch of the feet. If treatment is not started it could develop into something very crippling.
