Video Never Loads

Why does my computer freeze up only when I am trying to view a video? It works for everything else I try to do, but whenever I try to watch live streaming video it freezes. It shows it is loading, but never moves past that. I never had this problem on my old computer which ran XP, but my new one runs Vista so I think the problem must be there somewhere. Whenever that screens locks up, I just let it keep trying to load until I finish whatever else I am doing on the computer and then I shut it off. It’s very frustrating.
