A Brief History of Carports

I know what you’re thinking. Why would I want to know the history of a Carport? While it might not be very practical knowledge, it’s always nice to know a little bit about something so important in your life. Carports date as far back as 1909 and were first used by architect Walter Burley Griffin. However, the term carport didn’t exist until 1936 and was coined by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Since this the carport has evolved into many different style structures, and has also become an independent structure all it’s own. It’s also expanded into many different styles and materials. You can pretty much find any type of carport you could ever want.
